Hello, I’m looking for a sound effect and I didn’t know where to turn so I asked here. The sound effect I’m after is an electricity sound effect something like when you would turn on a light bulb you’d hear the electricity. If anyone knows where I could find atleast a small handfull of these sounds to pick and choose I would apprecaite it.

Electricity itself makes no sound at all but electrical energy can invoke harmonics in the materials it is passing through or being used to excite. CFLs and fluorescent lights hum but incandescant bulbs shouldn’t make any noise at all unless they are on a dimmer and then you may hear the filaments sing as the wires vibrate. It’s easy to record 60Hz humming from many electrical devices.

http://www.soundsnap.com has a TON of really good sound effects. They recently went subscription, but you can still download up to 5 SFX files per month for free. It seems they have th entire blastwaveFX collection on there, so you’re sure to find some professional sounds. Good luck!
