  • El Capitan sluggish when on battery power, cursor lag

Posted by Alan Langdon on January 27, 2016 at 7:37 pm

I just did a fresh install of El Capitan on a 2011 macbook pro 13″ with 4 gb of ram (dual core processor).
Previously the mac had OS 10.6.8 installed.

I did the flashdrive clean install of El Capitan, formatting the HD and then installing El Capitan from it. Then installed a few apps, nothing much (Chrome, Office 2011, MpegStreamclip, VLC…).
What is happening is that when the macbook is on battery power, it is very sluggish and the trackpad cursor is slow and lags behinds the movements, making the computer almost unusable. When I plug the AC in, the mac works fine… Any input on this?
