…and now I don’t know what to do. Yes, I’m a new user. The camera display warned me not to disconnect power or USB until connection was safely ended with the computer. I wanted to get some graphic elements off a memory stick, needed a USB port, THOUGHT the media was already loaded onto the computer (almost done editing), so I ejected the Camera drive, and bingo…the video media in my project suddenly disappeared and was replaced by the notice in the footage bars that the media was offline.

Do you think I can safely disconnect the USB cable now and somehow re-establish the media connection? Power off/power on the camera? Will I have to save and power down Vegas 10?

If you wouldn’t mind answering me with what I hope is an easy answer for an experienced user and save me a support fee, I would certainly appreciate it.

Just plug the camera back in and hopefully it will show up as the same drive letter. Then open your Vegas project and the media should be back on-line.

    Problem solved.

Thanks, John. You were right. I’ve got to hit the east-coast sack for now. I’m leaving the cam and pc on (with screen off) and will tackle how Vegas 10 renders in the morning. I want to render/save to an external hard drive and burn a DVD. This minor crisis was enough one night. Thanks again for getting in touch. I knew knowledge and experience would win out.
