Efficient process for compressing muxed MPEG-2 a/v for web?
Hi – I currently use Sorenson Squeeze 4 (on an old G4 Mac) to compress QuickTime videos for web use (also in QuickTime format). Recently I started to use a PVR software package for PC that saves video in a muxed MPEG-2 format which is a little laborious to work with. Takes me about 24 hours to demux the a/v, put it back together in FinalCut, export as QuickTime, and then compress for web a 1-hour long a/v segment.
If I need to make this process more efficient, what can I do? Is my older G4 (dual 533 MHz procs running OS 10.4 with 1 GB RAM) the main bottleneck?
Does anyone else do something similar using different PVR software or do they save video in a different format that is more efficient to work with (ie. is in a Squeeze compatible format already)?
Thanks for any help and suggestions!
