Can anyone point me to info or explain a good workflow for working with dynamic links between AE and Prem?

I’m starting a project and I’ve decided that I’m going to try to up my AE game. I’ve decided that I’m going to do a rough edit in Prem then replace every clip with an AE/ dynamically linked comp.

My biggest question is: How do you keep everything in line – especially with naming? Prem and AE’s auto naming convention is worthless – surely there is some way to name these things something more meaningful?

I suppose it would have helped if I would have gone through and renamed the source footage something meaningful seeing as how AE imports the source clip as well…

    What’s your system configuration?

Replacing every clip may end up being fairly cumbersome depending on the project and your system…

Clip naming is a bit of a test. I’ve been meaning to test something one of these days, and haven’t yet in CS5…

dynamic link the clip out to make a new AE comp…then rename the comp in AE

This will likely break the link in Ppro, but I wonder if you can relink to the renamed comp?

…like I said, I’ve never tried it. I remain curious…this week I have some noodling around to do.
