effects to fix fluorescent light flicker?
Posted by Happy-goe on October 3, 2006 at 6:45 pmhi- we’d like to pick people’s brains for the problem we are facing-
we received tapes shot under fluorescent light and
all the footage has flickering.
is there any effects or any way to fix this flickering or diminish flickering?
we deeply appreciate you if you could give us some advice.
i don’t know if after effects will be the answer.
we are quite open for any advice to solve this problem.
thank you so much in advance-Happy-goe replied 19 years, 7 months ago 4 Members · 9 Replies -

October 3, 2006 at 7:19 pmWhat are you editing on? There is a company called 3prong (3prong.com) that makes a Avid AVX plugin called “FlickerFix” that does a great job at reducing flicker. You apply the effect to footage, then position 3 boxes representing normal levels of bright, dark and chroma around in the frame…you set these as a reference level values and it levels out the rest of the clip to match.

Check the manual on how to use it.

October 4, 2006 at 5:48 amGlad to help. I once used FlickerFix to fix (at least minimize) the flicker in an interview that was shot in NTSC in Ireland in a room full of colored flourescent and halogen lighting, with several large LCD projectors, several plasma TV’s and a large number of flat panel LCD computer displays…a lethal combination.
Good luck!Erik
