Effects not interlacing right
Hello!
We have a huge problem with effects not interlacing right with the backgroundmovie.We have a PAL movie with upper field and above that a solid with trapcode stroke.
When rendering out interlaced the trapcode stroke layer gets full of lines and it looks like a interlace problem.Someone who got an answer?

Are you scaling in the output module?
If so, you should never scale in the Output Module when rendering interlaced. You should drag the comp into the desired size comp and render that.Or is it something else?

It’s not scaling, it’s the same size and same format as the original file just with graphics on top of it.. it’s the graphics that gets weirdlooking.
Just as it with DV-interlaced format before you deinterlace it…very weird.. !

Um … it sounds as if you’re just seeing the interlacing, which is normal. How does it look on a TV?

Yeah maybe! Haven’t got a monitor at home.. But if the videoclip looks good.. wouldn’t the graphic look good as well?
And if I render out in no fields the videoclip looks interlaced but the graphic looks good…

Well … “good” or “bad” might not be the issue here. If the interlacing is regular (all being 1 pixel thick), then it’s an issue of “interlaced” vs. “non-interlaced”. You want the clip and the graphic to match, one way or the other.
It might be an interpretation issue. If you’re doing nothing to the clip (no scaling, moving, blurring or otherwise distorting) then field separation should be *off* for the video clip. (file>interpret footage>main)
Then you render interlaced. If nothing has been done to the footage clip AE will leave it alone — interlaced. The interlaced *rendering* only happens to something that is animated within AE, which is the graphic in this case.
The result should be an interlaced graphic over an interlaced clip.Try it.

it shouldn’t matter if the interpret footage is set to separate fields or not if you are rendering back to fields, putting fields back in will reinterlace the footage even if separate fields was set (i generally work this way). and by your mention that when you rendered w/o fields you saw interlacing in the background footage, that would indicate that you weren’t separating fields for that footage anyway.
so i think there is something else going on here… can you post a sample of the two renders?
