Hi! I’m editing a multi-camera show, recorded with two identical Canon HF-M31 HD definition cameras, and a third different camera. The point is that once I’ve created the multicamera track, the color correction needed for the 3rd cam is lost. Every time I switch to that cam, I need to manually apply the effect: color correction, with a preset made for the specific correction. (I can apply the effect to the whole event, and then select the preset,ok…) There’s a way to select all the takes of the 3rd camera and apply the effect (and the preset well) for it?
Thanks in advance and forgive my limited use of english…I’m spanish speaker, so you can reply in spanish too, Gracias!

This was just discussed in the past two days.
Read the replies by John Rofrano in the Process for color-correcting & stabilizing with multi-camera thread and you’ll be all set.

Just to explain further what is going on. When you use Vegas Pro’s built-in multicamera function, it will do two things to make the multicamera track:

    1. It combines all camera tracks into one master track. That means any FX on an individual camera track will be lost.
    2. It combines all events into a single event with takes on the master track. That means any event FX on the individual camera tracks will be lost.

Your only option for color correcting individual media is to apply the color correction at the Media FX level.

Plug-ins like Ultimate S Pro copy the event for a single camera to the master track and therefore event FX are persevered but the built-in multicam support doesn’t let you do this.

to John Refrano or those who are concerned

I am just about to purchase Boris BCColor and Tone to apply for my multicamera work (upto 4 cameras) Question:
Is this plugin software overcoming this problem( viz. color Fx doesnt work in multicamfunction.
I tried out the sony Vegas Pro Color FX and None of the functions FX Color can be applied.
If this correct, than it doesn’t make any sense to buy any plug in, nor the use of the Multi camera functiond does make sense!!
I hope I am wrong with my Statements.
Since if it is true, I have to do all my corrections only to the original footage, than to render and than to to Import into the multicam function. Quite a Job!
I am really looking Forward for an answer

In a multi camera situation, you should do your color correction on the media itself. That is to say, you should add the effects in the Project Media via the Add Media FX menu option when you right-click on a piece of media. This way the media will be color corrected regardless of where you use it on the timeline. All plug-ins work the same way so you cannot buy a plug-in that works different than any other plug-in in this regard.
