Effects and color corection better in uncompressed HD
did someone make test with footage DVCproHD 1080
footage in dvcproHD by FW and same footage in uncompressed HD via SDI (use the 1200 A)
apply the same effeccts and somme heavy color correction
Is there a difference is it the same in FCP and other tools ala shake and AE?
because people say that uncompressed is bettter for effects but i thought it was the same as FCP transform dvcpro HD to uncompressed make the effects and back to dvcpro HDthanks

Depends on your master format. If you go bak to dvcprohd then it’s of course the same.
If your master format is something else, then editing with dvcprohd codec is just one more generation of compression in workflow that decreases the quality a little. -
The advantage to uncompressed footage for color work is when it is recorded to 10bit. The 1200a is an 8bit deck and pulls in SDI footage as DVCPRO-HD (8bit) You would need a D5 deck to pull in footage as D5 10bit. Or go through one of the HD-SDI cards for the FC or into an AVID machine to thier DNxHD 10bit.

shoot DVCPRO50 , DVCPRO 720p, dvcpro100 with CONFIDENCE – render (using DVCpro50/720p/1080 codec) with caution .. DVCpro 720P & 1080 uses alot of compression

It brings up the BIG problem for HD editors, namely, if you are not monitoring (at least part of time on a large HD display) you will not see the problems until after delivery. It is about detail after all – and man-o-man, are the problems ever going to show! When you’re color correction starts looking like a special effect – you know you’re in trouble.
