  • Effective way to stabilize footage?

Is there a way to stabilize footage that DOES NOT crop the image? (a little bit is okay, but 10%+ really effs the framing of your shots). I’m basically looking for a way to stabilize that will have a crop factor of less than 5%. My footage is never super shaky. Our “handheld” shots are always on a fig rig/shoulder rig. So is there any software that does this effectively? I’ve tried warp stabilizer in AE. It works, but it crops a lot and usually distorts the image. And the “synthesize edges” option of the effect rarely works at all. I’ve tried manually adjusting video layers to fill the black space from stabilization, but that usually does not work very well either. A YouTube group called CorridorDigital stabilizes their footage extremely well, and they only use a fig rig.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Hi Jeff,

have you tried to use Detailed Analysis or to break footage on several pieces and to stabilize each of them?
