    I thought you used to be able to do this in FCP and forgive me as I run an Avid most times, but can you add an effect to a layer above edits to effect all clips below in FCP HD?

    Nest the clip. Add the effect to the nest.

    Another way to do this to maintain some individual control over the clips is to apply the filter to the first clip, then “Copy”, then select the rest of the clips and “Paste Attributes – Filters.” This will apply the filter to every single clip selected and you can go into any of the clips individually and make adjustments to the filter.
