I have a title created in C4D (with alpha) on V2 superimposed over images on V1. If I attempt to add a “water” effect in Boris FX this is applied both to the title but also to the video below it. How do I apply it to the title alone?

I don’t have Boris to test this out, but this might work. Step into the clip you want to add the effect to by double clicking it, then add the effect to the clip in the middle layer, V2.2 in your case. This is the fill layer.

Thank you for your thoughts: I’ve played with this a lot and can’t find a way to separate the tracks so I’ve gone the long way round (exporting the title with the effect then reimporting it and using an RGB key).

Dave, if you double click the key effect on your timeline it
Should open up for you, exposing the key and fill channels. Off the
Top of my head, I would think you would have to apply the effect to noth of those channels…otherwise the fill will look like water, but the hole being cut would still have a hard edge.

Boris might also have the “apply as a title/key” button within that effect.
