“Effect Handling” Settings – Using “Blackmagic” causes long latencies when playing media
Hi,
I’ve got a Decklink HD/SD Single link card and connected to FCP 5.04. When editing uncompressed SD material in either 8 or 10bit, the performance on the timeline slows down considerably if the “EFFECT HANDLING” setting in SYSTEM SETTINGS is set to “Blackmagic” instead of “Final Cut Pro”. Even doing simple JKL scrubbing invokes long delays before playback begins, or the video freezes while the audio continues.
Setting the EFFECT HANDLING to “Final Cut Pro” fixes this, but perhaps I’m not understanding what this setting is actually for. My disk array sustains 200MB/s without any problems, so I’ve ruled out bandwidth problems on that end.
Any help would be appreciated.
All the best and thanks,
Michael Buday
