  • Effect Applied to Entire Track

    Hi,

I’m editing a film on Vegas, and was adding some effects to a certain shot, and suddenly I saw that the effects have been applied to the entire track instead of only the clip I was editing – everything is suddenly brighter and less saturated. This is strange, because none of the video layers have the little Track FX bar that appears underneath the video when you apply Track FX (in case I somehow did that by accident).
    Can anyone please help?

    Thanks a lot!

It seems like you added the effect to the track effects instead of event effects. Each event has an effect icon where you can just effect that event.

    Hey Danny,

That’s what I thought as well, but the thing is that in that case I should have a little bar underneath the video track where I could add keyframes to the track effect – and I don’t. Also, when I open the Track FX from the track header, I can see that there aren’t any effects applied – see screenshot: https://images.creativecow.net/249412/screenshot3.jpg
When adding the effects, I only used that little button on the clip which you mentioned.

Another thing is that if I add a new video track above that one, and add the original footage into it, the effects is automatically applied there as well. Any ideas about what might be causing this?

Hmm, The only other place you can do this is the effect icon top of the preview window. That adds the effect to all the video in the project. Have you looked in the other events on track 4 to see if it’s there as well? Try dragging an event to track 1 and see if it has the effect. Vegas 11 has been buggy and I’ve never used it due to that. You could always try opening another instance of Vegas and selecting all events and copying them to the new instance.

OK, it was in the effects on the preview window – thanks a lot! I’ll look out for that one…
