Hey everyone, I’m doing a short piece where I wanted everyone to have strings (like a puppet) going up from their limbs to the sky. Any ideas on how this could be acheived through After Effects? I was thinking it might need to be made through a 3D program but I was curious what kind of suggestions you had.
    Thanks in advance

track hands and feet and link them to a mask and use trapcode stroke?
Geomancy can make some cool effects also…

You can’t apply tracking data to individual vertices. You might be able to apply tracking data to the beginning point of a a Beam effect. (render > beam).

the beam would be easier. you’re correct too — you’d need to rototrack the mask point.

there was a thread a while ago about a script that would attach verticies to tracking points. I tried it and it works quite well. You might try that + stroke. heres the thread..
