    Hi,

A friend of mine, is going into an online with and EDL and source tapes that are a mix of DF and NDF timecode. In the online they are going to recapture it onto one NDF timeline. Are the DF clips going to create any problems in the EDL? Or is the the source timecode preserved accurately despite being on a NDF timeline?

    Julian,

Source timecode is not a factor — DF and NDF are routinely intercut and then recaptured without issue on a DF or NDF timeline. The one thing to be watchful of would be to let your decks play tape for a few seconds when switching between tapes from DF to NDF or vice versa, just to ensure that the timecode reader makes the switch, as sometimes they will stick in one mode or the other.
