I’m importing an EDL from discreet edit* into FCP 6.

The resulting timeline in FCP has NO dissolves, even though they are they are right there in the EDL.

I am pretty sure this is an FCP issue; the EDLs from edit* are quite robust (I’ve tried every single variety, and have tried exporting only the video).

Am I missing some FCP parameter that I should be setting? I’m using File/import/EDL/recapture, and again, have tried several variations.

I realize that EDL import is a rare bird, but if anyone has some experience they could share I would appreciate it.

    Bob

    hey dood, how yer holidays?

some thoughts, as i am a former edit editor myself

did you try changing the b-reel / pre read options around?

I understand CMX 3600 is the best format

stupid question, but are you importing edl and not batch list?

export an edl from fcp and compare it to your edl in a simple text editor and see if there are differences in the annotations or durations

and of course, try trashing the preferences

can you send me the edl via email, and i will try and open it on my version of fcp. If i get it
i will send you the project (i am using 5.1.4)

    hope this helps
