EDL from FCP for Quantel eQ
Posted by Simon Redmile on October 22, 2008 at 11:46 amI need to export an EDL from FCP for Quantel eQ.
I exported a CMX file but it doesn’t seem to like it.
I’ve googled and only found references to automatic duck which I’d like to avoid using.
Any advice?

October 22, 2008 at 12:23 pmWhat type of EDL does Quantel accept? There are multiple choices in FCP for the export.

October 22, 2008 at 12:27 pmhave you tried any other EDL formats or only the CMX? if not, then thats where I’d start looking
do you have any other linear or non-linear systems there that you could use as a intermediate system to convert or conform the EDL to something the eQ will accept? is it just the price or is there something technical about the Automatic Duxk solution that you want to avoid? -

October 22, 2008 at 3:13 pmCheers for the interest and suggstions, I continued my own research and found that I’d need autoduck for this as suspected, luckily I think I’ve located a company copy that may just need an upgrade.
I email autoduck about this and Wes Plate kindly responded;
“Not EDLs but AAFs. I hope to have a video on the Pro Export FCP page soon that shows how it works, but if you have a version 4.0 generation Q system it can import the AAF files written by Pro Export FCP.”That’s resolved my problem.

December 18, 2008 at 12:13 amHey are you working with the eQ, or sending the EDL out?
I just started working with it, so I’d love to compare notes.
As for Auto Duck – it works great, but eQ also has an EDL-AAF converter for getting EDLs into the system. It’s just more clunky since less info comes across in the EDL.
