Anyone uses an Edius here? I have a project that was assembled on a PC edius. I need to get the sequence and bins into FCP.. But they did not give me an EDL. So I’m wondering if someone can spare 15 min to export and EDL/XML of the sequence and bins (batch list?) for me if i email/FTP a project file to them?

If so, please contact me off list at chiholee at mac dot com.

    Thanks very much!

    Chi

I’d gladly do this for you, but am not expecting to be back in the office until Feb 5th (GMT+8)
Let me know if thats any use.

Or if you have access to a PC (or have Windows installed on your Mac via Parallels or Bootcamp) then you can download and install the fully functional Edius 30 day demo version form the https://www.canopus.com website

    Andy,

Thanks for the reply. I’ll try to check out the free demo download first since I’d like to deal with it over the weekend. I appreciate your help!

    Andy,

I got the download and so far it’s ok. But when I try to export an EDL, it says that “clips with different frame rate from the current project setting are on the timeline.”

Is this a case of the sequence supporting different frame rate but the EDL does not? If so, do you know how I can get around this?

It seems to export an AAF fine but FCP can’t import AAF – stumped!

Thanks for any help that you can offer,

How do you like the realtime editing of Edius? I think the RT is amazing but the GUI needs some work.

sorry Chi-Ho but I haven’t any experience of using the EDL export in Edius so I’m not aware of the issues and limitations. your assumption sounds pretty reasonable though.

Automatic Duck has an AAF Import and Export plug for FCP so you might want to take a look at that as a possible conduit: https://www.automaticduck.com/products/pifcp/
not cheap if this is a one off, but worthwhile if it’s likely to be a regular issue

you might be better off splitting up the timeline you have, in Edius, into separate ones for each frame rate, and then exporting multiple EDLs that you can reassemble in FCP
