    Hello,

I’m digitising some PAL HDV footage I shot with a Sony Z1 at 1080i 50i resolution.

I’ve set my Sequence Preset to HDV 1080i50, my Capture Preset is set to HDV and my Device Control Preset is set to Firewire PAL.

The picture size after capture is 1440×1080. In the Viewer and the Canvas everything looks great, but the output to my Widescreen TV is letterboxed and stretched.

Now, my Video Playback is set to “AJA Kona 625i25 8 Bit (720 x 576)”. I’m assuming this is the bit I need to change to get the picture properly represented on my screen. So I change this to “AJA Kona 1080i25 8 Bit (1920 x 1080)” but the picture just disappears from the TV. I’m connected to the TV through a single composite lead from the AJA Breakout lead.

I know I’m overlooking something obvious here and I know someone out there is just dying to tell me how to do it right…

    Many thanks for your kindness,

    Best,

    Steve.

    Steve,

A single composite cable is incapable of transmitting an HD signal.

TheAJA Kona 1080i25 8 Bit (1920 x 1080 setting is precisely the one you want, but you’ll have to use either a component or SDI signal path into your monitor, depending of course upon the inputs that are available.

David that’s great thank you. I suspected that might be the case but I wanted to make sure before I dismount the TV from the wall to get the to the Component inputs. Why can’t they put these things at the front?!

Thanks so much for helping me,

    Cheers,

    Steve.
