Editing video longer than 30 seconds
Ive just started out with AE and ive come to relise im unable to edit a video longer than 30 seconds. I understand that premiere is better for this, so il use the two to get my results, however ive video footage longer than the default 30seconds you get in AE.
Complete newbie question, but how do i edit video in after effects, or even create AE projects longer than 30 seconds?

When you do Ctrl N or Composition>New Comp, you get a Composition Dialogue Box, and you can change the Duration there to make the comp nay length you want.
If you have an existing comp you want to change, Ctrk K or Comp>Comp Settings brings up that same box.
If you have clips that are longer, and as long as you want the comp to be, drag them from the project Window onto the “Create a New Composition” button, at the bottom of the Project Window, between the little folder and the little garbage can.
You can also Import Premiere Projects and the comp will be as long as that Premiere Project.

i know your problem my friend and you’ll be glad to know there’s a solution. when you create a new composition, the new composition settings pop up. very near the bottom of the new composition settings pop-up there is the duration of the animation. keep the start time at 00.00.00 but change the end time to how long you want the composition to late.
