    Hello,

Let me first acknowledge that I realize that this probably isn’t the best forum to be asking a Photoshop question. However, because it is an editing question, I thought it might be the most appropriate place to ask this question. (It’s more likely that an editor who uses Photoshop would know this answer than a photographer who doesn’t ever use video would.)

I’m trying to use the Photoshop function that now allows for video frames to be edited (like one would do with a photograph). The editing part seems to work just fine. However, I’ve spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to properly export my quicktime video from Photoshop.

Basically, what I’m doing is importing my video via the Import>Video Frames to Layers menu item. Once I do this each frame of video comes up as a separate layer (which is great!). I then go ahead and make adjustments to each layer (different changes for different layers/frames). However, when I go to Export>Render Video (and select All Frames from the Range selection) and hit okay, it never seems to work. Often what I get is a quicktime movie of just the first frame. Or if I go back to my Photoshop file and make sure the “eye” is highlighted for every layer (ie frame) and then do the export, whichever layer is the last to have the “eye” highlighted is the one frame that gets produced upon my export.

What am I doing wrong? So frustrating to go and make changes to every frame in a 5 second clip and then not be able to properly output.

In advance, thank you so much!

    Ciao,
    Chris

Your export options and methods will be covered in the Photoshop manual. You may need to export to an image sequence, and then use Quicktime Pro to turn that sequence into a QT movie.

I have to say, that one of the great things about Adobe’s CS products is that you get all the manuals when you buy a suite of software from them. It makes great reading when you commute to work on the subway!

When you’re importing, make sure you’re importing the entire clip and not just a small range. Also, realize that you can import the video into Photoshop as a true video clip as opposed to frames. To do this, create a new PSD document based on your video settings. Then go to Layer>Video Layer>New Video Layer from File. Navigate and point to the file you need. Take note of the Photoshop animation panel, do your work and then export as you outlined. It should be that easy.
