Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Editing Titles

I’m in the process of transitioning away from our ancient media100 workstation with iFinish 4.0.1 to two Macs with Final Cut Express HD 3.5 and Final Cut Pro 5.

Now, I’ve always like the way you were able to edit titles in iFinish, but in Final Cut…the title editor doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as powerful.

I’m looking to create titles like you would see flash at the bottom of the screen with someone’s name on the news (two lines of text, with two bars of gradient color)

Is there anything within Final Cut that I missed that could do this, or, are there any plugins that would have this capability?

    Thanks 🙂

These are variously known as Baseball Supers, Pills, or Lower Thirds. The ways to crate them are as endless as your imagination and patience. LiveType comes with many presets for lower thirds. So does Motion.
In FCP you can use the solid or gradient generators to create your little bars and then use Outline Text. It’s a Boris tool and may be more familiar to you.

Welcome to the family. There are many disaffected M100 users here. In fact, you can search for the term and find most of us in the threads. We miss certain things about the mature elegance of the M100 interface but we never looked back.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
