I am thinking about buying an new iMac 27 inch i7 32 GB to do mostly filmediting on it. Editingsoftware will be AMC and aftereffects. My first question is will the one screen be wide enough for AMC to be displayed in a effective manner since normally in film editing you have two plus an additional tv preview screen. Second is it wise to buy Apple products when building a professional editing station and production company. Are there any better solutions? Third does anybody know a good system for backups or external hard drive editing? Thanks in advance….

I’ve edited on Avid on iMacs at two locations, and it worked fine. But they had second monitors on the system. Thunderbolt to DVI adapters to connect the other monitors. But then that leaves only Firewire for drives…which is fine in many cases. We were on an Isis, that connected via Ethernet.

    Work great.

    Shane,

Thanks for that. The New imacs habe actually two thunderbold outlets. https://www.apple.com/at/imac/specs/
That should be enough to daisychain another screen and hardrive…
