Editing SD (DV50 PAL) – would SSD disk(s) work?
Apart from the fact that SSD disk are not as big as conventional disks (I think you can buy 470 GB SSD, but they cost about $800) can I use SSD as video disk at all?
We work with documentary and our number of simoultanous DV50 streams are perhaps not that many…
Should I stick with mechanical disks?

OK, so using an SSD disk (in a bus-powered 2,5″ enclosure over FW800) would work just fine for me, shooting DV50 ?
Another question: would 5200 rpm be enough for DV50 and a few simoultaneous streams?
From what I understand 5200 rpm generates less heat.
If you are using bus-powered (FW800) enclosure, what brand/model do you use?
I used macsales/OWC up until last year, when the enclosure started to fail on me, not showing the disk content. (The disk itself worked fine in an externa SATA-dock).

Yes, should be fine to move a few DV50 threads in real time.
You shold be able to check the read/write speed of the HD with the “AJA System Test”. Is included with any AJA drivers.
