  • Editing same project on Avid using PC and Mac

I have a project to edit but also I need to leave country for few days and because my project is quite important I was wondering if its possible to take my project along.
I use Avid on PC desktop, which is way to heavy to even consider it moving.
My friend proposed to get MacBook pro and install my avid on it and move project that I am currently working on and take it with myself.

    My question is:

    Is it possible?

if yes – how to do it

and most important question is – how change of avid and operating systems would affect my project.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

As long as both Avid’s are the same version, you should be fine. Heck, you can even have MC6 on one machine and MC5.5 on another and it’ll work…as long as you aren’t using features new to MC6. MC5.5 won’t see them (such as using ProRes MXF).

Make sure the drive isn’t NTFS….because Macs can see them, but not write to them. ExFAT or Fat32 would be the options best for use on a Mac and PC.
