  Editing same project in two countries – EDL issues

  Hi Guys,

  This forum has helped me several times in the past, but this is my first time logging in (better late then never I suppose) I hope I can also contribute more in the future.

  We are starting a doc co-production between two countries. The film will be shot on a Panasonic AF100 and we will use a P2 as a 2nd camera.

  All the material will be copied into 2 disk image backups. The material will then be imported to FCP on a separate “working” drive and then duplicated. One working drive will stay here and the other will go with the co-producers. The idea is to edit the first cut here and send an EDL so that they can reassemble it in their FCP.

  My question is: Do I duplicated the working hard drive before the sync is made in FCP (between the 2 cameras and the sound)? Or after? Can the EDL detect and rebuild those new sync “merged” clips?

  Distante countries, long flights… the idea is to save time.
