  • Editing Precomps?

    Hi,

This is something that I’ve just been putting up with but… maybe (just maybe) it’s really easily solved.

When I put layers in a new Precomp. it becomes the ‘entire length of the original composition’.

No big deal. I usually just manually drag the In and Out-point handles back to where the layers (inside it) begin and end.

So… is there a way to tell a Precomp. to simply encompass the length of the selected layers only?

If not, is there a quicker, easier way to edit the In and Out-points?

The Out-point in the Layer window works as expected, but the In-point cuts off anything before it and then slides the Precomp. all the way to the beginning of the Timeline. Definitely not handy if you want things to stay in place.

    Or maybe I’m missing something?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    ALEX

I typically will set my in and out points in the pre-comp (by hitting b or n) and then I right click in the light grey area in the timeline window that is below the time markers. From the pop-up select Trim Comp to Work Area.

    Hey,

Thanks so much for that tip. I think I will be using it ALL the time now.

    Very much appreciated,

    ALEX
