I’m sure this has been answered but I cant seem to find it. I am trying to figure out how to do smooth slow motion. I have an hvx200, shooting in Film Cam 720/24p into a FS-100 on QT pn. I have the camera set to 60 fps, but when I bring the file into final cut it just plays at normal speed, not slow motion. I have the timeline set to 24 fps, and the file says its 60fps, but still plays at reg. speed. Can anyone help me with this?

Were you in VFR mode on the cam when shooting?

    You list the correct settings.
    720p/24p
then set the frame rate to 60.
Edit in 24 timeline and it should play super slow for you.

IT doesn’t magically become slow motion…you have to make it slow motion. This tutorial shows you how to use Compressor to do it…

Dropping a 60fps clip into a 24fps timeline will just remove frames, not make it play slow.

How do I know if I’m in VRF mode?

You can use Cinema Tools to reset the frame rate to 24 which changes the original file or Compressor can be used to convert from 60 to 24 frames whilst making a new file.

Look in your camera settings for VFR.
