    I’m new to Vegas.

When I’m trying to edit my clips on the timeline I’m having a few difficulties. I’m making a fan video and need the clips to be very precisely edited. The problem is that by using the trimmer or by trimming the clips on the timeline it doesn’t quite achieve this.

Is there any way to edit more precisely using Sony Vegas?

What’s your definition of “very precisely edited”?

Vegas will split a clip where ever you to tell it to, right down to a specific frame.
Since you can’t get any more precise than that, I don’t understand why you’re having problems.

I think you probably need to expand your time line so that you can progress frame by frame.

Click on the + sign in the lower right corner of the time line. This will stretch out the time line and you can click it enough times that you can advance frame by frame by using the arrow keys. As mike said you really can’t get much more accurate than ‘frame accuracy’ You can see if it is advancing frame by frame by watching the counter in the lower right corner. You should see the frame cound advance one by one rather than a bunch at a time.

    Here’s a few tips.
Be sure ripple edit is on, this will realign clips to each other as you cut or reduce sections of video. As you hoover over the timeline use the scroll wheel to dial in and out on the timeline. Hit “S” to split the video at any frame you want.
