Editing numerous frame sizes?
Hi guys/girls…I edit video as a hobby and have recently been asked to put together an acting reel for a friend. Fairly simple task, right? The problem I have is how I should handle the different frame sizes. They are all converted to ProRes but the frame sizes range from 1920×1080 to 640×360. What is the best way to handle these on a simple timeline?

In your situation…simply resizing could work. But I would resize for what you are delivering. It’s a demo reel. Those are typically sent out on DVDs or are on the web, but don’t need to be 1920×1080. 1280×720 is a fine size. So you might think about choosing a 720p 29.97 (or 23.98…depending on the frame rate most common) sequence, and edit on that. Or convert the footage to that with Compressor (ProRes).
Personally, I would either use Premiere Pro for this (it has the best software scaler out there), or just resize what you have in the timeline, to 720p.
