    hi guys,

I am trying to set up motion path of my camera, but I’m stuck. My main problem is not being able to set up the path with bezier curves, that means I cannot adjust the points exactly as I want. I can convert the path to spline, edit it, and add a align to spline tag, but in that case I have to forfeit from my keyframes in the timeline & just use position property of the tag, which is also a way that I do not feel really comfortable with.

To sum up, is there a way to edit the original motion path with beziers? I am very used to that from after effects, and think that there should be simple way to do this in c4d, but I cannot find it 🙂

    Thanks in advance.

    Kaan.

absolutely, open the F-Curve editor and select the keyframes of the path you want control over (all of them if you want) then set Interpolation L and Interpolation R to Custom (you can do it to a bunch of them not just one at a time). Just be sure to get all 3 values (X, Y, Z) for a given keyframe or the path doesn’t get handles in the editor window

…. or: select the keyframes as described, then uncheck the Auto Tangents option in the Key Properties window (-> Atributes).

I still can’t adjust the bezier curves in the editor. Only in the animation timeline curves. Also, I’m not sure where interpolation L & R is located. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance !

in the editor you can’t adjust bezier’s with the select tool (it just tries to select a point) you have to be in the Move, Scale to Rotate tools to grab the handle. (if that’s what you meant)

Actually I just figured it out! There are LOCK AXIS BUTTONS in the standard and modeling mode(not in the animation mode; up at the top with the other icons.) They are X Y and Z buttons with circles around them when they are in unlocked mode. These were locked. Its one of those annoying little oversites that’s not particularly well documented and therefore hard to diagnose. For all of you who run into this problem. I hope this helps and thank you Brian forv your reply.

This is what worked for me, but the Key Properties window wasn’t visible until i switched to Standard layout.
