Editing HDV & Rendering Apple Pro Res ?
Hello all,
I’m planing to edit HDV 1080i footage. I’ve heard that its a good idea to set the rendering in the sequence preset in Apple ProRes 422 not to have any effect anomalies when I add effects to my shots. Is that recommendable or is rendering in HDV ok ? I just wanted to cheek before going into work.

You can wait until the project is finished and then set the final render to ProRes. Yes it is better with HDV to finish in ProRes422. Many here recommend converting to ProRes on capture rather than edit with HDV.
If you have already captured as HDV then stay with that until the final stages. I have graded and online a lot of docos that were shot and captured HDV and had no issues with editing in that codec.

Yes I captured HDV because I have a lot of hours of footage (about 20) and did not have enough space to convert all in ProRes422.
