I capture and edit fine with real time playback in premiere but in after effects I can’t even scrub through the timeline with my footage without having to wait 5 seconds or so for the footage to load in the preview window. I’ve been searching around for answers and I read that after effects has a hard time reading mpeg footage, so I imagine I should export from premiere to something other than mpeg? I’m running a PC, quad core with 4 gb of RAM so am pretty surprised that I can’t get any type of decent preview in after effects even when the resolution is set to quarter. Any advice? I really do appreciate any help.

That’s what I was thinking. Thanks for the tip. Is there a certain codec I should use? I normally use quicktime but I can’t find it in any of the export options in Premiere and was wondering if I had to buy it or not?
