editing from multiple external hard drives
Hello,
I am working on a project that is taking up quite a bit of storage space, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle it. I currently have footage on a 320 gig and a 250 gig hard drive and I want to be able to use clips from both at the same time. I know I can daisy chain them together to have access to all the footage, but I’m wondering if I can move clips back and forth between sequences that share clips from each hard drive. Once I take this step, I imagine that I’ll have to work with both drives daisy chained or the missing clips will be offline.
Is there a better way to do this? Thanks a lot!

Absolutely. You can have 10 drives with footage that can all be accessed at the same time. MORE.

You obviously do not understand the basics of non-linear editing. When you edit in FCP, the clips on the drives don’t go anywhere. They don’t move. If you create a new project and put them in there, they stay put on the drive, they do not move.

Yes. If the drive containing the media isn’t there, then it…isn’t there.

No, there’s nothing wrong with the way you are doing it.
