Editing DV and P2 footage together
I am editing together a music video with DV footage and P2 footage and the cannot understand why the DV appears squeezed in comparison to the P2 footage. The black bars outside the frame are quite larger on the DV footage than the P2. I’ve tried recapturing the DV footage with various capture settings but this doesn’t help. Any thoughts?

Your P2 footage was shot how? DVCPro HD? DV? Frame rate. How was your DV footage shot? A little more info is needed. Please be specific.

The P2 footage was shot 720P/24pn and the DV footage was shot at 480i/24.

The P2 footage was captured via fire wire using the P2CMS and then Log and Transferred into FCP. The DV footage was captured via firewire from camera into FCP using Capture Now.

I think you just answered your own question. You have some footage that is 960×720 and some footage that is 720×486. They are different sizes. You need to choose one size and then resize the other footage. Remember that the pixel aspect ratios are different too.
(To simplify things I would just use Compressor to convert your footage so it is all the same size and codec)
