[Eric Chard] “I’d like to auto-generate low(er)-rez proxy files to do a little editing job… I should add it would have to work with AE7.0-Pro.”
I’m just a little confused by your terminology — do you want to create proxies for editorial in another application, or proxies for use in AE?
If you’re looking to do this for AE, you can skip the scripts and customize an output module in the render queue to create a proxy. Click the arrow next to Output Module, then click Make Template. Under Settings, give it a new name (like Proxy). Click the Edit button, then change the Post-render Action to “Set Proxy.”
Now you can add a whole bunch of comps to the render queue, select a low-res render setting (like Draft), then select the new Proxy output module that you just made.
(I’m pretty sure that post-render actions were around by v7.0, but it has been a long, long time.)
