Editing a daily cable series:What’s the minimum?
This will sound insane, but its all true. Set up a in office TV studio for a friend using Harbor Freight junk and prosumer cam. I set it up so he can even shoot himself with no crew using a countdown clock. He started producing a show he wanted to sale to a local station.Looked so good they want a 5 day a week full season of shows to be delivered on DVD(!) for broadcast NTSC.
Has had another friend editing but the work load is too much, so am trying to figure the cheapest edit box that can process NTSC, log and transfer in 720 X 486 26 minute 1 take segements, make 4 edits in half hour show, render to the proper codec and compress to DVD and am figuring I can train his assistant to do it….Have been working in video since 1968, but always with ridiculously expensive equipement and large crews, so this DIY thing is outside my expertise, but so far the DIY looks way better than what the local stations are doing,
Figured Vegas would be a very intuitive program for the edit, but how much box, backup drives, graphics card, etc do I need specify for him to edit one half hour NTSC 4 cut show at a time?? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
