Editing 4 Channels of Audio?
I’m just getting into the audio part of Vegas Pro 9.0c for the first time. I have 2 cameras with 2 channels of audio. I will be doing a Multi-cam edit. How do I handle the 4 channels of audio?
First off, I don’t see anywhere, yet, where I can adjust the L&R channels of each cam separately. I have duplicated each 2-channel stereo track so I can treat each as a single track. That’s 4 stereo tracks now.
My question is, am I going in the right direction? What is the best work flow to edit audio in Vegas with 4 audio sources from 2 cameras?

Once you have duplicated the stereo tracks as you have, the next thing you want to do is isolate just the left or right channel. To do this, right-click on the first tracks audio event and select Channels | Left Only. Then right-click on the second tracks audio event and select Channels | Right Only. Do the same for the next two stereo tracks. This will give you 4 mono tracks. If there are multiple audio events on a track you should select the same channel for all audio events.

Now that I have my 4 channels to mix as I need, when I enter Multicam they all become one. I tried offsetting them so I could drag the audio channels onto another track but it will not allow me to re-sync the audio tracks. Is this the wrong way of trying to do this? I need a quick way to do this as 99% of my projects will be the same type of editing. Is the workflow to finalize the audio edit before even going into Multicam? This seems like any rework work be almost impossible with thw audio.

Hi, i don’t know if there is anyway of splitting your audio tracks up in Vegas. When i use multi camera shoots i export the audio into sound forge and split it into 4 or 6 mono tracks and save them. I don’t use the multi camera option in Vegas i manually edit in normal mode. But if you do go to multi camera mode ditch the audio and import your saved mono tracks, group them all together with your unedited video, do your edits and then mix the audio.

My method for setting up multicam is to duplicate the video track for each camera. I, for convenience, group these at the top of the timeline, and mute the original video tracks. I select the duplicate video tracks, and then create the multicam track. The original video and audio tracks are left alone, and I can continue to use these as I wish. If the audio was synched properly to start with, it will stay that way.

Don’t select the audio tracks and they won’t be included. You need to only select the video tracks that you want to edit before creating the multicamera track.

I think that’s what I have actually done. I now have 4 separate mono audio tracks and a 3-cam multi-cam edit track. NOW I can edit and have complete control ovre audio and video.
Thanks for the tips. I can now expand on my workflow.
