Edited in AVID, Must import into FCP
Hi,
Pretty simple question but something I’ve never done before. I’ve just finished a project in Avid, shot on an EX1 and edited via AMA at 1080P/23.976
I have 3 shows that I’d like to export as QTs for import into FCP. Doing it uncompressed is an option but the files will be HUGE. Is there a codec/setting that FCP favours?
Not interested in Automatic duck or anything like that. Shows are finished and this is really just to keep archiving options open for the client.

ProRes, I guess.
Either way, do some serious research on FCP and QT imports, it seems like FCP and QT have their own way of “correcting” gamma and black levels, even if you don’t want that.

I have found the exporting a DNxHD file out of avid works great. On the FCP side you have to go to the avid site and download the DNxHD codec to install on the mac, but then you can edit in a DNxHD sequence or transcode to prores.

And beware the black levels after that.
