I’d like to second zeeton’s frustrations from an eariler post. I too come from a background of media100 and Avid editing and these printing to tape bugs just don’t exist.

I’ve been grappling with the 1 frame edit error message. I’m also dealing with timecode inaccuracy when doing insert edits on a BVW-75 and also on a DSR-45 deck. With the BVW I’m using RS-422 control through the keyspan adpater (using the latest keyspan driver) and with the dv deck I’m using firewire control. Both scenarios are problematic.

In addition, I’m dealing with the software bug of FCP in relation to the AJA IO box in which the edit to tape function will only work if I drag my sequence onto the insert or assemble button.

I may be a frustrated editor but I think I’m justified in saying that FCP is a royal pain in the ass at this stage in it’s development.

may this period of FCP’s development be short. is anyone else experiencing these problems?

    setup:
    g5
    osx 10.4.2
    FCP 5.01
    keyspan driver 1.8
    AJA IO (with latest drivers)

    I also have problems.

My proyect is in HDV and it uses the HDV 1080 codec for compresion. When I give FC the order to edit to tape it starts a neverend process: Transcoding to HDV video. And it keeps transcoding for hours and hours and hours. This doesn
