Edit to tape problems & Print to video problems, both worked worked last week.

I have read through older posts here and at Apple. I have seen some similar problems but no fixes.

Timeline plays through deck to NTSC monitor.
Video is stored on second internal 400gig sata

    I have tried:
DV deck DSR20 and camera PD150.
    different firewire cables
    different firewire ports
    trashed preferences
    reinstalled FCP 5
    reinstalled QT 7.01
    repaired permissions
    checked play all frames
    time line matches set up
    different project.
fit video to window in canvas
    unplugged other firewire devices

Now for some reason print to video is working again but not edit to tape.

I am stumped. FCP sees the deck and controls it. It goes into record but all that it is recorded is black and no audio. Video is playing on the computer monitor. Nothing is getting to the deck. I can still capture.

Edit to Tape requires a timecode enabled device and an In Point for your device with enough pre-roll. Have you blacked the first 5 – 10 seconds of your record tape and then set an in point at least 5 seconds into the tape?

Thank you, Walter, for your speedy response.

Yes I am using a pre blacked tape, also tried another pre blacked tape. Still no go.

Tried logging in as another user and edit to tape worked fine. Back to my user and still no go.

I don’t look forward to a complete clean install of tiger and everything else.

Just to check the assumptions. The deck/camera is in VCR mode, right?

I have found that if there are any transitions, even an audio crossfade at or just before the edit point, this can happen. Also, did you try rebooting FCP?

    Paul,

Have you tried to log in as a different user? That worked for me. But still have not figured out what is wrong with my user name. I would like to know in case it ever happens again.

Did you guys figure out what the initial problem was? (Print to video works, but Edit to tape doesn’t). I’m experiencing the excact same problem after upgrading to FCP 5. Running decklink card, but with OS 10.3.9.
