  • Edit to Tape Problem. Please Help!!!!

    Hi,

I am having a problem with the Edit to Tape function. I preset the timecode on the deck so the tape will start at 09.59.00.00 and use the black and code tool and stripe the tape for 5 minutes (more than enough for this short programme). Then I set an In Point on the tape at 10.00.00.00. I then select all of the Timeline and drag it into the ‘Assemble Edit’ tab of the Edit to Tape window. This all seemed to be working ok, the tape was cueing up fine and had adequate pre-roll. However when the tool hit ten minutes and was supposed to start recording, a strange thing happened- the timecode JUMPED to the place where I had previously finished striping the tape with the black and code tool (five minutes later). However this showed incorrect timecode in relation the where the tape was. Then I got an error message saying ‘unable to locate timecode’.

Phew! please HELP I have to deliver these programmes frame accuratley by the weekend.

Odd indeed… What OS are you running?

    Might try restriping the tape.

    As a side note:

If you control the deck via RS-422 instead of Firewire it works a lot better. And you can stripe the tape remotely thru FCP’s black and code button in the ETT Window… all you need is the cable, and a Keyspan adapter for this… https://www.keyspan.com sells the USB to RS422 adapter, and I’m sure Promax can sell you both! https://www.promax.com

I had the same problem and found that If I drag the timeline from the project window instead of dragging the selected clips it works.

    Good luck

Make sure timecode on the deck is set to regen mode.
