  • Edit to Tape not frame accurate

I apologize if this has been answered but I did not have time to thoroughly search previous posts. I am editing on FCP 4.5 and using a Sony DVR-1500 DVCAM deck for mastering, connected by firewire.

I find that when I edit to tape (assemble edit) my in point on the master is always earlier than my intended in point. If my segment starts at 2 minutes, FCP starts it around 7 frames earlier.

I am sure that the answer is simple and probably settings-related. Would someone mind guiding me in this?

    Thanks!

I edit to a 1500 and to Beta SP (1800). I seem to be able to hit okay when printing a whole show, but I’ve never been able to do an insert edit. Ridiculous.

Calibrate Playback Offset. It is in Device Control presets and can be up to .001 of a frame precise.
