I’ve seen people having this problem here, but I have not been able to find a solution.
After installing version 5.0, whenever I choose the “edit to tape” option in FCP the firewire connection stops sending audio and video to my deck. I still have control over the deck through firewire, only no picture or sound.
Crashing material to tape works fine, so does capture. As far as I know, all settings are correct. I’ve tried multiple firewire ports, cables, four different decks and the same thing happens all the time. I’ve tried thrashing the FCP prefs, re-installing, logging on as a different user etc etc.
I’m running 10.3.9 (have ordered the new OS though) on a G5 dual 2,5 with Blackmagic Decklink card, version 5.0 drivers. Please, anyone?

I have resolved this issue. Although I can edit to tape when signed in as another user. I will wipe my main HD and reinstall everything when I finnish my current batch of projects.

And what was your solution? Did you just log on as a different user, and then it worked?

I set up the machine with two users from the begining for testing purposes. So I logged in as the other user, after putting my project file in the shared folder. Edit to tape then worked. Back to my user name and it did not work.

    No picture OR sound?
Do you have picture in the video monitor? You should have one to monitor your output.

Are you speakers connected to the deck as they should be (and NOT the Mac?) Many people have this wrongly setup.

    Sounds like two problems:
    1) Your system is not set up properly
    2) You need to trash your prefs

That’s all that’s wrong in my estimation.

Everything is set up correctly. I’m beginning to think this is a bug. Have tried logging on as a different user, establishing a new user etc etc.
Have updated OS to 10.4.1 , re-installed FCP etc etc.
As mentioned before, Print to video is not a problem, only Edit to tape doesn’t work correctly. Anyone else having the same problem?
