Edit to Tape is not working properly. It loads okay, starts okay but no picture to tape. I can see the movie in the ETT window, but it’s not going to tape, I only get audio.

The Kona control panel shows everything is connected, blue on video in and out, analog to the Beta UVW 1800. It is connected directly to the Kona, not going through the patch bay. So with what all seems to be working right, it ain’t.

    G5 dual 2 gig with 4.5 gigs RAM. OS 10.5.4 QT 7.5 FCS 6.0.4.

    Have a wonderful day.

I forgot, yes, I checked all my audio/video settings and have my RS422 cable hooked up properly.

    Have a wonderful day.

What audio video settings are you using? We have the same UVW-1800 and just laid off about three masters yesterday with the AJA 8bit SD Uncompressed settings. This is with all the latest updates on a Mac Pro Quad 3.0.

Are you downconverting HD material to the Beta deck? If so, have you set it up to downconvert in the Kona control panel or is it trying to send the HD signal to the deck?

This job is set up as SD 8bit uncompressed, no downconvert. My settings are 8 bit uncompressed easy setup. This whole rig used to work great before my recent Ex made me sell the house, thereby forcing a studio move, and it’s never been the same since the move. Damit.

    Have a wonderful day.

Assuming you are sending it component, in the Kona control panel, do you have the analog out to send “Component (Beta)”?

Excuse the obvious but, is the Component input on the front of the 1800 selected ?

Is the Kona selected in FCP (in the View menu) for video out? Should already be if you selected the Kona in Easy Set up.

    Hi Evan,

Yes, and yes, but I’ll check on the third point.

    Have a wonderful day.

Chris, also make sure that on the back of the deck that the component inputs are set to “see” the BNC inputs (labeled Component 2) and not the “dub” multi-pin input (labeled Component 1). If the switch on the back of the deck is flipped, it won’t see the inputs from your Kona board and you will have no picture.
    Just a thought
