    hello

i have a pretty decent understanding of FCP but am having a hell of a time with edit to tape at the moment. it is working fine on my G5 with FCP 6, but on my G4 with 5.04 i am having the following issues: once edit to tape starts, the deck only records the first still image that comes up on the screen (the first frame of the piece i am outputting) and that is it- won’t record, even though the video is playing back fine mirroring on desktop. actually- it is laying down time code, which is odd, just now video past the first frame. i tried print to tape and it just lays down black.

i have changed settings and used firewire basic as well as firewire for my Device Control Preset. The project is 30 fps 16:9 standard def. i haven’t encountered this before- any ideas?

    thanks

Some basic info might help. What deck? What are your sequence settings? Do you have a firewire drive and a firewire deck connected at the same time?

Have you tried the usual – trash prefs etc. Can you play the sequence and crash record on the deck?

Thanks for your response. I tried both a Sony HVR-M1OU and my old XL1 camera. Sequences settings are DV NTSC, anamorphic, 30fps progressive. Just a deck, not a drive.

I did trash the preferences and no change. I did not try to crash record- I haven’t done that before and don’t know how.

    Thanks again,

    Smith

Whenever I have this problem, nearly all the time trashing prefs and restarting fixes it. But you also my need to dump your caches, use Leopard Cache Cleaner for that.
