Edit to Tape FCP Problems
I have a DVCPro Deck, Firewire IP & OP.
The only way to control the deck is by the RS232 on the Blackmajic Card.
My Problem is that whilst I can jog/shuttle/view etc the VT, mark in and out points etc, when I try to drag a clip onto the edit to tape window, none of the options highlight, like Assemble/Insert/PVW.
I have made sure the tape is Blacked, Points are Correct, all the obvious things…
What I am able to do is set the device control settings to Firewire (not basic) and the Assemble option then becomes highlighted when dragging the clip, but of course VT control is lost and so the edit cant be performed.
So whats missing?

I don’t have a DVC Pro deck, but in your Edit to Tape “Device Settings”, can’t you set the Device Control to BlackMagic and the Capture/Input” to Firewire?
If you have a tape already blacked and time coded, then you can set your in and out points in your Sequence. Drag the Sequence into the Viewer. Set your In point on your DVC Pro tape in the Edit to Tape window with the same In Point as in your Sequence. When you hit Assemble or Insert this will hopefully perform the edit.
Again, I don’t have this problem. This is how I do edits onto a UVW-1800. But if you are not doing it this way, maybe it will work for you.
