Edit to Tape and RT tales of woe
Ok, I’ve been encountering 2 particular problems of late that I have not been able to solve. One, the RT playback error. I’ve switched from Unlimited, closed all other programs and processes, etc, but still get frequent RT playback stoppages on fully rendered timelines. The other problem, even more annoying, is this weird layoff variance I get when going back to tape. About 50% of the time, and getting more frequent, my layoffs end up being 1 frame late. Picture and audio are still in sync, but it’s always a single frame late, always occurring somewhere between my Bars & Tone and the slate. So, if I’m inserting on a black & coded tape at 00:58:30:00, my minute of BnT lays down fine ((last BnT frame at 00:59:29:29), but when I get to my slate at 00:59:50:00, picture (and audio) doesn’t start until 00:59:50:01. So all the way down my layoff everything is a frame late, and yes, my timeline’s are all frame accurate. So far my work-around has been to close the app, power down the Io box and reverse. This seems to work most of the time, somehow re-establishing sync between my system and the digibeta deck down the hall. My connection is via SDI and I’m running the current version of FCP on a G5 tower. Anyone else encountered this?
PS – Yet another oddity is unclean INSERT edits. I can drop a clip in just fine, but when it reaches it’s out-point, it leaves a hard, assemble-like cut with a time-code break. Anyone?
