Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Edit to tape

I am working with FCP 5.0.4 on a Mac G5. When I try to do an “Edit to tape” I set the TC I want in the “IN” field, however when the edit is made the machine makes the edit approximately 14 frames early. I am recording from a DV50 timeline to a Panasonic AJ SD955. The machine control and media are being fed via firewire. The machine records everything fine, just not at the TC I set. Is there possibly a setting somewhere that I have missed that would correct this problem?

    Thanks

I have heard that Firewire is not frame accurate. This could be the answer. Is it off 14 frames everytime? If so, is there a way you can adjust your in point to correct for it?

The 14 frames seems to be an average. It is not always exactly 14. It is only a REAL problem when I want to correct something already on tape and I have to re-output the entire show since it is not frame accurate.

Try controlling the deck via RS-422 and see if you get frame accurate assemble edits that way.
